Vintage FOLK ART Wood Bowl Hand Made Hand Painted

This wonderful vintage wooden bowl was hand carved, not turned on a lathe, and painted matte black. The hand painted folk art landscape depicts an early Colonial double-chimney house flanked by a tall tree on either side and bushes in front. In keeping with the black background, there's a faint white moon upper left. The unknown artist was quite talented and even managed to paint with accuracy over bumps and lumps in the wood.

The bowl is out of round; it measures 7 1/2 inches across and 7 inches from top to bottom. It stands 1 inch high, weighs 1/2 pound and sits evenly on a table or shelf. Both wood and painting are in very good shape with no cracks and very minimal paint loss. The roughness around the edges could be from wear or may have been intentional. This primitive bowl is very decorative and a great folk art find.
