Sailboat Haven Framed Oil Painting PBN Craft Master

This paint by number oil painting was done in the 1950's, when the kits were first marketed in America and became a huge hit. The title is "Sailboat Haven" from the Craft Master series "New Artist 2421-32." The kit came with 24 oil colors for the numbered panel. This painting was done on board, which Craft Master changed to from the rolled canvas in their kits in 1955. We can then date this PBN from about 1955 forward. We've included photos of the original catalog cover, an information page and the catalog page showing this painting.

The artwork depicts a coastal scene, with a beached boat, a lighthouse and the rocky shore. We love it due to its blocks of color, rather than a profusion of small details, that give it a more modern look, perfect for a contemporary beachy vibe.

The original grooved oak frame is stepped down to the painting and is 2 inches wide. The framed dimensions are 15 inches by 19 inches (actual painting size, measured on the back, is 12" by 16"). The painting is backed by a piece of brown hardboard with a hanging wire installed on the back. The piece weighs just a few ounces under 3 pounds and is in great condition, both painting and frame, and displays handsomely.
