This green wing teal drake decoy was hand carved by Bob May in 1988 in Montana solid white pine. Its head is turned to its left and sports amber glass eyes with black pupils. Bob May did a good job with his colorful hand painting, with the feathers nicely delineated and the wood grain showing through in some areas where he used a translucent stain.
The teal is signed on the bottom: GREEN WING TEAL ♂ By Bob May '88 and has a MADE IN MONTANA paper label attached (that male symbol is Bob's way of telling you this is a drake). Bob also carved for Big Sky Carvers in Bozeman, Montana, but this one's all his. It measures 10 1/2 inches long, about 5 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches across the breast (measured across the underside). It weighs a bit less than a pound and is in superb condition, with no damage and no discernible wear. It displays handsomely and is both decorative and collectible.
