This original oil painting depicts a large home and its surrounding gardens, possibly in Montclair, New Jersey, where it was found. It's signed lower right by the artist W. Olson and dated 1949 to the right of the signature. It measures 14 inches by 18 inches by 1 1/2 inches framed and weighs approximately 1 1/2 pounds.

The traditional, two-story white home has rows of windows with muntins, an attached sunroom and a separate garage at the rear. The manicured landscape includes a beautiful red maple in the foreground, banks of flowers on both sides of the driveway and along the walkway and an assortment of green trees and shrubs. The artist used heavy impasto on the flowers and trees, which catches the light to add three-dimensional texture and a tactile quality to the painting.

The stepped, 1 1/2 inch wide pine frame was given a reddish stain that complements the painting nicely. Both the frame and the painting are in excellent vintage condition. There is a hanging wire installed on the back, so you can display this lovely painting as soon as you receive it.
