A lovely pair of original etchings, these evocative scenes of Paris were purchased there in 1966. One of the etchings depicts a street scene: a man walking down a narrow, labyrinthine cobbled street past a flower shop. The other etching is a scene of fishermen near the Petit Pont {Little Bridge}* over the river Seine, with Notre Dame Cathedral towering in the background.
The inscription on the reverse of each reads "This is an original etching by Roy Barron bought in the summer of 1966 by Bill Bigham for Raymon and Norma Long." Both of the artworks are signed in pencil 'Roy' in the bottom right margin.
Each is framed in a 3/4 inch wide gilt frame measuring 13 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. The frames are chippy, revealing the traditional red layer underneath called bole. Each etching has a double cut mat: the upper mat in soft sage green, the lower mat narrowly showing antique gold. Both bear a label on the back for Fine's House of Pictures in Lubbock, Texas.
Both of the artworks are in excellent condition, with frame, glass, backing paper and the etchings themselves all intact. Each weighs 1 pound 10 ounces and has a hanging wire installed, ready to hang and admire.
★The Petit Pont, one of the smallest bridges in Paris, connects the Île de la Cité (the island in the Seine the Cathedral is on) to the Left Bank.
