Kosta Boda Art Glass Vase by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien

A deep pink art glass vase by famed Swedish glassmaker Kosta Boda, this stunning mouth blown crystal piece features a beautiful hand painted woman's face with ruby red lips and heavily outlined green eyes. It was designed by prominent Swedish artist Ulrica Hydman-Vallien (1938-2018), who worked for Kosta Boda for more than 40 years. The vase is part of her iconic series called "Open Minds" (a fun pun on the open top of a vase), which Kosta-Boda launched in 1986. The series has not been formally discontinued, but the two vases in the series that are still being produced are white with only black brushstrokes.

The vase measures 9 1/4 inches to the rim. The mouth opening is 5 inches across and the base is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. It weighs 3 pounds 7 ounces and is in excellent, like-new condition. It's marked with a Kosta-Boda label on the bottom over the pontil and signed in black enamel "Ulrica H/V" on the back bottom edge. This classic series was featured in cameos on the TV series "Friends" (Series 6, Episode 11; originally aired January 6, 2000, titled 'The One With the Apothecary Table') and the pieces decorate beautiful homes around the world.
