This exceptional piece of American studio art glass was hand blown by renowned artist Earl O. James. The large, heavy vase features a trumpet form in vibrant chartreuse decorated with abstract confetti and frit inclusions in shades of peach, blue, brown and black. (The small circle on one side photographed as a solid color but is actually a multicolored bullseye.) The indented, polished base is clear, thick glass, with the artist's signature hand etched on the bottom. We've included a photo
of him at work at his anvil.
The vase stands 12 inches tall, with a mouth 7 inches across and a base 3 1/4 inches in diameter. It weighs a substantial 5 3/4 pounds and is in excellent condition, a striking addition to your home décor.
Earl O. James has worked in his Cleveland, Ohio studio since 1990, producing colorful blown glass with his characteristic abstract designs. Born in Jamaica, West Indies, and raised in Rochester, New York, James holds both a BFA and MFA and has instructed several glass workshops at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina. James has crafted glass statuettes for each recipient of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, translating a book cover into a piece of sculpture.
