This handsome jar was hand-thrown of rough, grayish-brown clay in an octagonal shape. The snug-fitting lid and its knob handle are also octagons. The piece was then covered in a creamy greyish-white glaze with a dripped glaze of rusty orange, both inside and out. Only the four notch feet have dry bottoms. It's marked on the bottom with an unknown (to us) chop mark.
With the lid on, the jar measures 6 1/2 inches tall, about 5 inches across the shoulder and 3 1/2 inches across the base. It weighs 1 1/2 pounds and is in pristine condition...no chips, scratches or other damage and no wear. Each panel of this art pottery covered jar is a bit different as you turn it and it displays beautifully.
