The style of the facade of this charming Puerto Rican church typifies many of those in San Juan, where this handmade piece was created. It's made of dark stained wood covered with painted and embossed foil on its front. There is a "tiled" base complete with "grout" upon which three people (wise men?) in colorful robes and gold foil crown stand. The back side is plain, with the artist's signature (David Rose?) hand printed in black, along with S. Juan, P. Rico.
The piece weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces; it measures 10 inches tall at its peak, 11 inches wide and 3 inches front to back at the base. There is some wear to the painted areas, but it's overall in very good condition. There's a keyhole carved out of the upper back for hanging, but this folk art church looks great sitting on a shelf or table and also as part of a Christmas display.
